Valley Insight Meditation Society was created by a group of people who practice and study in the Theravadan Buddhist tradition. The organization's intention is to provide opportunities for the larger community to explore these teachings, which include Vipassana, or Insight, meditation.
Meditation practice, through a wise and careful training of attention, can lead to a peaceful mind and a steady, kind heart. It helps us find our way to wisdom and compassion in the midst of the stressful complexities of our lives.
We hope that the exploration of this web site will be an aid to the sharpening of your understanding of the path we follow. We welcome all who are interested.
The Buddha pointed out to us that the spiritual power of a gift is dependent not on the amount given but rather on the attitude with which it is given. A gift of any amount which you give from the heart is sincerely appreciated. A one time contribution or monthly gift will support our sangha’s mission to disseminate the Buddha’s teaching to the members of the community and to continue our support of our guiding teacher Doreen Schweizer.
